Suddenly I have a duck pond! - Osprey - 06-05-17

Looked out of the conservatory window this afternoon and look what was there. They've literally only just flown off a few moments ago.

I hope they stay and make ducklings

We did give them some grain so hopefully they might come back.

They were back again last evening (Sunday) so gave them some grain to eat. They then settled down to sleep on the pond.

Well, we had ducks all night and Dad heard them leave at about 5am this morning. At shortly after 10.30am the female returned by herself. She has spent the whole day here all alone. I have no idea where Mr Drake is and but it's a rather sad sight.

I have a sinking feeling he has met his demise and she came back here looking for a safe haven. She's shown little interest in food today but it's only grain from general bird food. Dad is going to buy her some duck grain tomorrow if she is still here in the morning. She's quite nervous of people but calms if you talk to her in a soft voice and give her a wide berth. We can't really avoid going out there altogether but I think she's slowly getting used to us coming and going.
