While it will be months before I find time to get any further with my pond I thought after the heavy rains I might as well post these photos after the heavy rain we’ve been having, the pond is at present fed by a field drain & as I’ve blocked up the outlet after very heavy rain it fills up. These photos show the level it will be when I eventually get it emptied, stones cleared from the bottom, a sand layer put down, followed by some form of liner then poor soil for growing the pond & bog plants.










The far end of the pond will be a bog area taking up around half the total area, this will be extended back slightly further & the sides sloped down to the pond more by the removal of soil from beneath the grass.
To the left of the pond is the Blackthorn Hedge which has been in 18 months & is at present protected from rabbits, this will remain for another 12 months minimum till the hedge is well established. The hedge is full of water mint which was in the turf used to build up the hedge bank



The last two views are from my office window which if we can afford to modernise the house as we would like will move 6` closer to the pond & bog area.
